The client, a major international bank requires an experienced Market Risk manager to join their Malaysian risk team. There are three main areas of focus for the incumbent.
• To identify, assess and monitor all market risks associated with Global Markets activities (Trading businesses and ALM) and to recommend control procedures and systems to control the risks.
• Ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls, periodic monitoring activities and timely resolution of risk issues where pertaining to Trading businesses and ALM.
• Implement controls within the business unit to meet all regulatory and internal requirements.
• Highlight and where necessary pursue any issues that may expose Global Markets to unacceptable market risk, which has not been approved by the appropriate authorities. Any significant issues, which cannot be resolved at the country level, to be escalated for further action.
• Review of systems and procedure to ensure that all market risks are identified, managed and controlled for Trading businesses and ALM.
• Manage the workflow in market risk, including prioritization and allocation between staff, to meet required deadline and quality standards.
• Review processes for effective delivery of risk information.
• Ad-hoc projects/tasks as directed by the Senior Manager, Market Risk.
• Undertake timely periodic business monitoring (self-assessment) activities within the business unit and escalate findings and or breaches to Business Unit Head and UORM, when they occur.
• Ensure risks and issues identified are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Assist in the implementation of OR framework or other relevant OR initiatives.
• Assist in ensuring appropriate internal controls and procedures for money laundering prevention are in place and functioning as intended. Where appropriate, assist in the investigation of financial crime risks.
• Act as the Departmental Continuity Co-ordinator to ensure sufficient business continuity planning is in place for the unit.
At least 5 years previous experience is preferred.
