CFO - LIFE INSURANCE - INDONESIA
This position exists in order to oversee and drive the development of the finance and accounting, investment, actuarial and product development/management areas for a major multinational organisation. The division has a staff of approximately 25 who are located in Jakarta. The effective management and leadership of this division will be an important key to the achievement of the business’s vision. As a legal Director of the company this role also carries with it legal responsibilities both individually and collectively with the other Directors.

SUMMARY POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Our Client is a Multinational Life Insurance firm that has been present in Indonesia since 1992. Its provides life insurance risk products and riders, heath insurance and longer term savings vehicles in both the regular premium and single premium form. It has traditionally been an agency driven company with about 75% of its business being generated through this channel. The other channels are Bancassurance, Direct and Group Sales and in recent time these channels are starting to take a higher profile through a distribution opportunity with a partner bank. The business currently has 340 staff and 5000 agency distributors who operate in around 20 locations throughout Indonesia. They are a financially strong and capable organisation that is focused on providing for the longer term savings and protection needs of its customers.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITY:

Overall responsibility for the performance of Product Development and Management, Finance and Accounting, and Actuarial. Establish and implement short and long range departmental goals, objectives, policies and operating procedures.
• Direct financial strategy, planning and forecasts; conferring with other Directors and functional heads as appropriate
• Manage the company’s investment processes
• Manage the annual strategic and business planning process in conjunction with the President Director
• Chair the Product Development Committee and direct product development in conjunction with the distribution channels and marketing
• Ensure compliance with all Indonesian (MOF) regulatory and reporting requirements
• Establish and maintain appropriate internal control safeguards
• Attend the Board and sub committee meetings and take the lead on discussion within the relevant segments of responsibility
• Oversee all tactical and strategic product pricing decisions
• Ensure strong management reporting disciplines are put into place in order to provide timely and meaningful information to company executives
• Overall accountability and responsibility for all divisional costs
• Represent the company at various industry events and meetings
• Be a role model for all staff and agency personnel and actively live and promote the company’s values
• Contribute and participate with other Directors in the setting of annual strategic and business plans. Be an active contributor to monthly Director meetings

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:-

• Education
o Actuarial Degree and accreditation or
o Bachelor degree in Financial related discipline. Post graduate study preferred
• Experience
o Minimum of 10 years experience in the life insurance industry in the Actuarial and Finance disciplines.
• Hard skills
o Excellent English skills (reading, writing)
o Well developed computer skills (Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc)
