POSITION DESCRIPTION

The primary leader for the Sensors China organization whose primary objective is to work closely with the global Sensors leadership team and support implementing global Sensors and corporate initiatives and strategies into China. This role is to continue to develop and expand the current Sensors’ team to continue to achieve double digit sales growth year over year by understanding the team’s strengths and at the same time continuously working on improving team’s weaknesses. In the coming year in 2014 and 2015, this role will need to start-up an R&D organization working closely with global Sensors leadership.

Overall:

Works closely with Sensors leadership team and identifies, develops, and implements China development strategies in line with corporate initiatives and Sensors objectives.

Plans, organizes, staffs and develops a Sensors China organization capable of achieving the appropriate coverage to meet market penetration, sales volume targets, customer service, operational efficiency consistent with Sensors’ business plans and objectives.

Manages assigned employees and develops skills of staff by identifying development areas, establishing coaching, training and development plans. Ensures progress through both personally provided training and facilitating educational activities.

Performs administrative responsibilities connected to Sales & Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering and other functions as assigned.

Responsible for budgeting and execution on yearly basis.

Provides presentations at the various business review and worldwide level business meetings

Sales:

The role will need to work closely with the Sales Managers to drive the direction of the sales activities and will need to be able to support sales from a broader perspective.

Supports the Sales Managers to plan for bookings and revenue and delivers to that plan including the forecasts for future business for each fiscal year, and updates the forecast periodically, as required.

Actively participates in, or directly handles, the closing of significant orders when necessary. Develops quotations in accordance with Business objectives and philosophies.

Supports the Sales Managers to define how to effectively manage customer relationships, and implements a process to develop and maintain relationships and enhance customer confidence in the Company as favored vendor for magnetostrictive position sensors.

Supports the Sales Managers to define plans, strategies and targets for the distributors in order to extend existing market segments and to identify new market niches. Establishes sales programs and provides broader support to the distributors.

Monitors and reports competitive activities, and develops tactical actions to tackle.

Remains alert for sales opportunities relevant to other Company’s Divisions or Business Groups.

Performs administrative responsibilities in connection with operation of the site as assigned by the different Sales Global leaders. Supports Industrial, Mobile Hydraulic, and Liquid Level sales activities. Manages and controls expenses within planned budgets.

Marketing:

The role will need to work closely with the Marketing function to Develops and executes plans and practices to expand market share.

Supports the marketing team to provide market insight/guidance internally, actively promotes the Company’s Sensors brand to external markets, coordinates activities with peers globally, and participates in cross functional decision making to support strategy.

Supports the marketing team to identify market/customer needs and product requirements for the Industrial/Mobile Hydraulic/Liquid Level Sensors product line and apply group and divisional resources and technology to meet these goals.

Supports the external Marketing efforts for the Industrial, Mobile Hydraulic, and Liquid Level Sensors product line, including Technical Conference presentations, Industry Association relationships, and strategies relating to the Company’s Distribution network / sales channel.

Supports MarCom activities and works within established Marketing Communications budgets, in the Advertising, PR, Web Site, trade shows.

Supports the market research to evaluate and monitor competitor activity, develops selling strategies for each as necessary.

Acts in a leadership role to promote skill development for Applications Engineers and other Marketing Department employees.

Builds relationships with Universities, industrial associations and research centers to represent the Company’s sensors technical advantages and brand in the best possible way.

Follows up with the site Marketing leader on potential infringement of the company’s Intellectual Property and provides reports/information on Intellectual Property issues to Corporate Legal team.

Performs administrative responsibilities in connection with operation of the site as assigned by the Marketing global leader. Supports China marketing activities with the Company’s Corporate and Sensors global policies. Manages and controls expenses within planned budgets.

Operations:

The role will need to work closely with the Customer Service, Operations and the Japan Plant to ensure customer needs are fully satisfied from order execution, product delivery and maintenance broader scope.

Provides leadership and guidance in the usage/development of the companies’ Customer Relationship Management software tools (CRM) for the purpose of supporting both sales and marketing activities. Maintains continuously the CRM database to ensure an optimized information flow. Uses analyzed CRM data to enhance forecasting, pipelining, etc.

Supports the Customer Service team to define how to effectively improvement customer communication and manage customer relationships per after-sales stage. Keeps customers informed of order status, tracks customer issues, and develops customer confidence in quality.

Tracks local repair center activities to ensure customer demand for repair and service are met.

Manages relationship with the Company Sensors BU in Japan for logistical processing of orders/ deliveries, and control all Sensors’ expenses/investments in China.

Cooperates with plant wide quality performance needs.

Performs administrative responsibilities in connection with operation of the site as assigned by the global functional leader. Manages and controls expenses within planned budgets.

Ensures office administration functioning in timely and cost efficient manner.

R&D:

This role will need to identify and start-up an R&D organization working closely with the Global Engineering Leadership.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Automation or similar). Masters Degree preferred. MBA or equivalent preferred.

Good knowledge of industrial and liquid measurement, sensor technology, industrial automation, and control engineering.

Broad knowledge of the Chinese Industrial Machine market, Mobile Hydraulics and Liquid Level markets.

Minimum 7 to 10 years relevant broad industrial experience including Engineering & R&D, Sales & Marketing experience. Experience with small-medium size operations experience is highly preferred. Familiar with technical selling, design, manufacturing, customer service, delivery processes and best practices.

Strong business acumen and a solid understanding of business financials.

Ability to understand, formulate, and implement strategic plans based upon the demands of the market development.

Able to understand industrial standards and quality requirements.

Familiar with one of the CRM, ERP systems prevalently used in industrial markets.

Fluent-English and Mandarin-spoken
