Our Client is a world diversified international building materials group. They operate in 35 countries, employing over 80,000 people and generating yearly sales of USD 24 billion. They provide and distribute a range of products including heavy materials and elements to construct the frame, through exterior products that complete the building envelope. The client currently operates substantial cement / materials businesses in Asia - focused in China and India whilst maintaining a number of smaller operations in South East Asia and Australia / New Zealand through ownership of several small subsidiaries involved in the manufacture and distribution of Construction Accessories to a number of segments involved in Pre-Cast, infrastructure and steel reinforcing construction applications. Due to business expansion within The Philippines, they are looking to invite a seasoned professional within the Building Materials industry to join them as a General Manager Aggregates in their Philippines head office.

Purpose:

The General Manager reports directly to CEO Philippines. The operational aspects of this role are focused on developing a substantial presence in the Aggregates business. The GM Aggregates will be responsible for building teams, commercial networks, acquiring new asset locations and related infrastructure. The role requires physical presence in the quarries, leading Health and Safety efforts, engaging new staff and contractors within a new cultural environment and substantial commercial acumen.

Qualification:

• Bachelors/Masters in Geology and/or other relevant disciplines

Experience & Technical Competencies:

• Extensive quarry management experience on all relevant levels with a minimum of 15 years direct quarry management / extractives experience
• Commercial development – end use / intermediary value proposition development in product offer, logistics and service elements.
• Basic site works operations – sales functions, production, cost control and budgeting management, training and HSE implementation.
• Staff development – formal and informal.
• Quarry Management formal qualifications – blasting / shot design, Quarry Management.
• Understanding of concrete technology.
• Understanding of training platforms to develop quarry specialists.    

Languages:

• Proficiency in English is required

Location:

• Manila, Philippines – based in the nominated quarry within the Greater Manila Metro Region
• Prepared to travel frequently domestically within The Philippines, SE Asia, Australia and Europe.
